Most language classes are boring because they teach basic stuff that isn’t specific to anything else besides English. Asking someone what this picture represents, or asking why this symbolized is usually met with blank stares...and it gets worse after 20 years in school because everything’s become rote memory training so we only remember the bare minimum information necessary (that is unless we’ve had personal experience).
So how do you get around this? First step is to realize you won’t actually be tested on what was taught today. Second point is that most teachers aren’t going to go through the same content every single day and therefore it shouldn’t matter exactly what you learned yesterday. Thirdly is what I mentioned before -- you should be prepared to expand upon certain topics further at a certain times. And finally -- you always want to make note of things that really stand out； if a student struggles to pronounce words consistently (for example), try teaching him/her an alternative way to say it rather than writing his/hers full pronunciation down like he/she knows perfectly well.
Here’s where my tip about taking notes come in handy: make flashcards. Write it down quickly, put it away somewhere safe until you use it again a few days later when you forget.

Schedules tend to vary across languages but generally involve 5 days a week with at least 4 hours of practice daily； the rest being reserved for weekend breaks.
