Tutoring Jobs St. Thomas FAQs
Why should I get certified/enrolled?
How long can I work with children/adults?
When should I become certified/enrolled?
Is an online course enough for certification / enrollment? If yes, which ones?
Which training company offers certifications? Are they credible?
Who else can I talk to for advice about becoming a tutor?
Will my parents allow me to travel during school hours?
Are there child care facilities available near high schools around town? Some universities offer childcare facilities nearby or free transportation services to take kids to university classes? These things definitely go a looong way towards making someone feel welcome & comfortable in another culture. Many people would say living overseas is life changing but many times the experience isn’t exactly as exciting as some had hoped for! When deciding to move abroad, many things factor into this decision including: cost of living, family ties, weather, employment opportunities, quality of education, cultural exposure, language proficiency, community involvement/social networking and overall lifestyle factors like health, safety and cleanliness. Having said that, I am going to focus mainly on the financial aspects because after reading through various websites regarding relocation/work visas, there still seems to be many uncertainties surrounding these matters. So I went ahead and did just that (read below). I am hoping that having an idea of the different options available will provide those who wish to relocate elsewhere with additional information and hopefully encourage some dialogue amongst fellow readers. Feel free to ask questions as well!
This was all brought to light following discussions with friends who recently moved to Toronto from Vancouver. As part of the discussion, we learned that although there seemed to be an abundance of job postings related specifically to moving to Canada, there wasn’t really much guidance as to where people could actually expect to find jobs once things started getting serious.
Here’s some good news: Private tutoring jobs in St Thomas offer competitive wages of $13-$17 per hour depending on experience. Plus you receive additional compensation for extra duties performed outside regular schedules. These include grading papers, delivering lesson materials, organizing classroom supplies and equipment, etc.
Want to earn additional income on top of our hourly wage? We’ve built great relationships with local business owners who appreciate quality service providers. Some offer referral bonuses to those referred. Others provide opportunities for part-time employment or job sharing. All we ask for in return is referrals.
For example, one client provides a generous bonus to teachers who refer other tutors on behalf of his company. If you get five referral bonuses each paying $500, then your total payment would equal $2,000 which translates into roughly $26 per hour plus commission paid for every student enrolled.
In addition to earning extra cash, these clients value having their own dedicated employees on staff to ensure high quality standards and ongoing support. For instance, when our clients hire new tutors, they assign experienced educators to mentor and train newly hired tutors until they meet certain quality expectations. As long as you meet those requirements, you will be able to apply for full-time positions once you complete training and certification programs required by employers.
Imagine yourself doing this work full time with no 9-5 job responsibilities outside of working together with kids daily – helping them find happiness in themselves during tough times, boosting confidence on rainy days and cheering them on inside while they get everything possible done, academically speaking.
This could be you.
At Tutor One you will spend most of our time interacting with children, but you won’t feel like a stay at home mom, instead focusing on bringing joy every single day, being a part of everything happening around you and serving kids as they strive for better grades. Every moment spent with kids - teaching them concepts or preparing materials - feels worthwhile because children leave your sessions pumped up and ready for action after school hours. And because you’re going to love teaching kids almost every minute of every class, you’ll soon learn why people enjoy doing this work in particular and become addicted to this.
Your role can be anything from elementary grade 1 to high school grad level courses; whether you’d prefer helping someone prepare for standardized tests or simply getting them engaged in interesting topics, each student has different needs.
We offer competitive pay rates along with great benefits including medical coverage starting Jan 2019, dental insurance (Jan 2018), paid Parental Leave Program (Jan 2020), Tuition Assistance program ($1k-$15K per child / $3200 per family) and other perks.

So how does this pertain to my story? After being laid off from corporate America back in 2016, I decided to focus on bringing my knowledge to the global community via my own form of content creation called Online Coaching/Tutoring. During this period I worked closely with clients from India to Canada, helping them achieve academic excellence and learn from mistakes made previously. This eventually led me to working for companies as part of the executive leadership teams and developing systems & protocols where I lead teams across multiple geographies. While growing those relationships and seeing the growth of my clientele led me to believe I’d found my calling.
If you’re wanting to break into the industry and find yourself living the “work dream” as opposed to spending every waking moment running errands, answering emails, or cleaning bathrooms, then I hope this article helps illuminate things a bit better 🙂
What Does Your Journey Need From A Coach Or Teacher Like Me?
1.) Someone Who Can Give Honest Feedback Without Being Judgmental On Their Past Mistakes / Bad Decisions 2.
However, these big city playgrounds provide tons of entertainment options which can be overwhelming to parents who still must keep track of homework assignments and school work back home. As a result, many parents prefer traveling back to small towns and villages located just 90 minutes away from downtown Montreal to escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
We call those little places “les petites villes”. Their charm and cozy atmosphere captivate visitors every year and attract tourists of different ages seeking relief from stressful day to day living. For example, in this video below, people from around the globe gather in Ste. Anne de Bellevue to watch the famous Quebec boat race take place.
But did you know that small towns provide tons of job opportunities for talented individuals? Many communities across Canada actively search for qualified individuals to fill positions related to health care, education, government services and hospitality industry sectors. If you are interested in pursuing teaching careers or a career path similar to your own, then this video shows you exactly how to find jobs in smaller towns near St. Maarten in Québec.

Tutoring provides you with both monetary rewards. Depending upon the length of service provided, tutors earn anywhere from minimum wage per hour to higher rates depending on skillset/experience. Many tutoring companies offer full health insurance coverage for students, which makes sense since tutoring requires long hours working during normal business hours. Additionally, you’ll learn valuable professional skill sets such as communication & teamwork that could lead to further educational pursuits in the years to come.
There’s no denying that tuition fees remain high across Canada, especially due to rising costs associated with online services like Canvas Learning. One way to mitigate the cost of education would be to become a licensed teacher through teaching certification programs offered by post secondary institutions such as Brock University, Lakehead University, Wilfrid Laurier University and Algonquin College. All four universities provide excellent job placement options once their graduates obtain licensing status. Another advantage to becoming a certified educator would be receiving generous maternity/parental leave, starting at six months, along with sick days. A private company called TELUS offers similar parental support through their “Moms&Babes Program” that offers paid extended parental leave, flexible scheduling and subsidized childcare.
Another great thing about being a student tutor is having the ability to interact with children who are struggling academically due to academic pressures, cultural differences and family life. These kids deserve someone just like yourself, they’re going places beyond grade 12, therefore the sooner they get started with personal development the easier they’ll find adjusting to adult responsibilities.
We believe that our people contribute greatly to the success of TutorOne, but equally, they benefit greatly by building strong relationships throughout our organization. We strongly encourage employee participation and community engagement in order to foster long term partnerships among colleagues; ultimately resulting in enhanced communication and shared knowledge among all stakeholders involved....

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
The TutorOne Difference

TutorOne is committed to the belief that every student thrives best in a positive, fun-loving, nurturing learning environment.
