He shared his expertise regarding working with young people experiencing difficulties related to Asperger’s syndrome. We had some great conversations around accommodations & supports in school settings, which was just one component but an integral part of my program. His knowledge and insight into the unique needs associated with ASD is truly inspiring. Check him out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5KjSzcR6r7C8EuL0n_4Qg

Dr.
There was no shortage of parents complaining about this issue after I first spoke openly about my struggle with dyslexia during a speech given earlier this summer at McGill University. And yet, despite the fact that there is little research being done around the impact that dyslexia has on student achievement, many educators still find themselves struggling with the issue on a daily basis. If you work closely with special needs students then you understand this problem firsthand.
What should you keep in mind next semester when trying to identify children who suffer from dyslexia? Keep reading below to learn everything you need to know about finding the “hidden gifted kid” inside your child.
If they seem like good candidates, contact me via email with full details or fill out the form on our website.
I guarantee, you won’t regret taking action…
How Does A Dyslexic Child Show Up At School?
First things first—let’s take a closer look at some of the most common symptoms associated with dyslexia among young students. Here are just 10 signs that indicate whether or not your child suffers from dyslexia:
• Difficulty understanding instructions. Your son or daughter struggles following directions and can’t always recall key ideas presented verbally. When teaching him or her something new, teachers must provide extra verbal instruction until the concept sinks in; otherwise he or she remains lost.
• Difficulties processing information quickly. Many people who are fluent readers are actually better than average listeners because they tend to remember words but forget context. However, those individuals with dyslexia usually rely upon memory rather than comprehension; thus making listening a challenge due to difficulty recalling specific facts, vocabulary terms or other contextual information related to that topic.
• Poor organizational tendencies.
How could this be beneficial to me?
What should I consider while hiring my own personal tutor/special education teacher?
When searching for a tutor, pay attention to these things:
Experience level and knowledge base. If you ask yourself “does he seem knowledgeable enough?,” then keep going. However, if you feel like everything else around him seems strange, perhaps this person isn’t quite ready for the journey ahead of you both. If you still aren’t 100% certain, take some time to shadow the tutor under different situations; see how they interact with clients and how well they teach.
Doing online research. Search for reviews left behind by other professionals who had experience working with the service provider before making a decision. Most companies allow reviews and testimonials to leave via various methods including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and website comments. They should provide details about why people did not enjoy a particular service and offer suggestions for improvements moving forward. Also look for information regarding complaints made against the company. Do not hesitate to message customers whenever necessary; they often have valuable feedback that can improve client satisfaction and overall job experience.
Ask questions during the interview. Interview prospective employees face-to-face with specific questions tailored towards the position being filled, especially those related to classroom interaction. For example, teachers usually must perform daily tests or quizzes, but if you are curious whether the individual would excel doing similar work, you can inquire about his ability to design lesson plans. Asking the right questions can increase confidence, allowing potential employers to learn more about candidates than they could if interviewing through email only.
Pay close attention to training. All school systems implement programs to ensure every student receives support services. These include counseling, physical therapy, speech language pathology, occupational or adaptive therapies, autism-specific intervention, mental health awareness classes, nutrition, developmental disability inclusion, and special educations classes in regular classrooms.
We recommend trying out the following methods to seek an autism diagnosis in Beaconsfield Quebec.
1. Contact your primary care physician. Make sure he/she knows exactly why you feel different than most kids your age because sometimes doctors won’t understand until you get older. They’ll ask questions, conduct tests, and then refer you to specialists depending on what’s happening. Your doctor shouldn’t charge you for these tests either, but he/she could suggest you see someone who provides diagnostic testing that isn’t covered by insurance (but is often less expensive than seeing a specialist). Ask your doc about what tests you’ll need to see a psychologist or neuropsychologist. These professionals usually specialize in diagnosing developmental problems in children. A pediatrician can also point you toward psychologists specializing in autism.
2. Reach out to your school counselor or principal to find out if your student was tested through IEP services in 2018. Some schools offer screening for various psychological conditions, which usually involves talking to teachers and administrators to learn more about what happened in class during the past year. Sometimes parents are asked to fill out questionnaires regarding their child’s behavior. Sometimes kids themselves write down their thoughts and feelings, so you’d better talk to him/her if possible. If nothing happens after contacting your teacher(s), speak up with your school administrator. If he/she refuses to help you, contact Child & Family Services and request assistance.
3. Check your local library.
There is no requirement to complete post secondary education after high school graduation; however most people do pursue higher levels of training. For instance, many teachers study towards masters degree programs for different teaching positions. Additionally, some schools offer advanced certificates upon completion which makes these certifications desirable among prospective employees.
What does your salary depend on? Your annual pay depends largely on the level of responsibility assigned to you during your tenure as well as whether you hold a contract position or work under an employment agreement. While a teacher generally earns less than other professionals, this varies depending on their experience, responsibilities assigned, qualifications and certification earned. Some employers provide incentives as part of compensation packages.
If you love working with kids, why wait until retirement to enjoy doing something meaningful and rewarding? If your dream job involves helping children achieve academic excellence through educational enrichment then consider becoming an ESL/ESOL Teacher in your community. Learn More Here

Qualification requirements differ slightly across provinces and territories but usually includes passing a competency exam. Most jurisdictions specify certain minimum hours spent in class per week (e.g 50 hrs/week in British Columbia). However, actual hours taught vary widely depending on the program and institution. An additional certificate/licence may be required and the length of a course differs slightly.

“How do I calm a Special Needs child during sessions?” Is often one question which arises. A lot of questions follow but this is usually a great first step… So many parents and other professionals ask themselves “When should my kid get special education classes?”. “What level does he/she need?”, etc. These are excellent questions and there’s no way around these topics once they’re discussed. But what really matters is answering those initial ones: Does my son / daughter fit your profile? What are your expectations from me regarding his / her support? And most importantly: Do I wish to spend some private time together with him /her per week? If this answers yes then we’ll continue until our relationship becomes stronger!

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
