To understand this phenomenon, you’ll have to take a closer look at these different types of students (and parents).
First and foremost, international students represent another demographic entirely. While they may live in Canada (like myself), most of them spend most of their lives in other nations. For example, I’m half-Canadian yet my mother hails from Brazil; however, she spends most of her days there because she studied in England. Therefore, she knows many things that only locals could relate to. On top of that, these people usually speak English as their primary language. Thus, they don’t really need assistance when navigating around the country. But there’s someone else in need of extra attention, namely children with special needs. Children with disabilities aren’t the norm in North America, but I’d be lying if I said I haven’t met a few such cases myself.
There’s nothing bad about being labeled differently than everyone (especially when you consider the fact that you’re actually better equipped for certain situations); therefore, I won’t try to convince anyone otherwise. Rather, I just wanted to provide an insight into how one must handle and deal with individuals who suffer with special needs in Pemberton.
When I first came across this topic, my initial reaction was shock but the moment after that, excitement flooded through me and I began to dream of working as a professional tutor myself. After all, I am one of the top rated tutors in Canada with some amazing testimonials already published on my website. As someone who understands the importance of education and tutorship, having these extra hours available to me makes every day worthwhile; allowing me to make a difference to other people’s lives.

At Tutoring One in Vancouver Westside, we specialize in teaching high achieving learners aged 4 years old – 12th Grade. We believe that one size does not fit all, and that there is no single approach nor methodology that fits every student perfectly. That being said, our methodologies can be tailored to suit individual requirements. They can focus on problem solving strategies, helping students develop higher order thinking skills and improve emotional regulation, allowing them to learn independently and become engaged readers/writers/thinkers. From our personal experiences, we learned that having consistent one-on-one interaction with caring professionals was ultimately key to learning more efficiently, while improving mental health simultaneously. And because we truly enjoy doing what we do, each lesson lasts longer than usual since we feel genuinely satisfied knowing that we helped another person grow intellectually.
When choosing a special education program, first and foremost think of what needs you child needs most. Do they lack basic knowledge in reading and writing, maths and science? Or do they display behavioural disorders, anxiety problems or motor delays and dysfunctions?
Based on this information, talk to a few potential programs and ask questions around the following themes: Does the specialist program offer academic tutoring? Is the programme accredited? Can I attend lessons regularly (i.e. 3 days per week minimum)?
While most people would say they “never had problems with anger management,” I beg to differ with some common excuses that teachers sometimes come across. When working with kids with special needs, it pays to learn something new every day — especially since this knowledge can save lives.
So, if you ever find yourself feeling frustrated around children who experience behavioral challenges like ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder, take heart because you aren’t alone. According to Statistics Canada, 2% to 4% of Canadians live with intellectual disabilities. And those numbers only increase among youth ages 15–19 years old, making mental health disorders increasingly prevalent in the Canadian population.
This article aims to provide useful tips for parents who seek assistance from experts when trying to manage emotional symptoms in their loved ones.
Tutors must ensure that their classrooms are equipped with proper amenities and materials. For instance, a desk chair that supports back pain can cause serious injuries during prolonged sessions. It goes without saying that desks should support legs instead of being placed against walls. Likewise, if you notice that someone’s wheelchair requires extra space, then you must offer adequate accommodations. As mentioned earlier, you should always keep safety in mind when working with children. If your school offers occupational therapy services, then ask questions regarding whether your student receives individualized treatment or group counseling. Both options benefit children with developmental delays, which isn’t uncommon given the prevalence of ASD amongst young people.
Another vital consideration is ensuring that a classroom environment provides privacy for both teacher and student. Kids with disabilities can become easily overwhelmed, particularly when discussing topics outside their comfort zone. Since tutors typically meet regularly with clients in person, this could mean spending significant amounts of time outdoors.

Who Should Adopt TutorOne’s Tutoring Methodology?
Every parent knows that the average public school education system has its faults, but few know that there are alternatives. Every year, parents become educated more about the effectiveness of individualizing children’s education. They understand that learning styles and learning strategies vary greatly among students and that students require additional focus and encouragement to excel, especially in subjects such as math, science, and reading. Students learn differently than adults; children absorb knowledge faster and retain it longer than adults can; and they’re less prone to procrastination. TutorOne’s comprehensive approach teaches kids to think positively, and teaches students when they don’t perform up to par.
Testimonial By A Parent Like You
"My son recently turned 15, and started taking Advanced Placement exams. He was doing quite poorly in Spanish II and English III, having scored only a 2 and 3 respectively. With one week left before he needed to take the AP test, I decided to enroll him in TutorOne Private Tutoring. His teacher had told me that he was a bright kid, but just didn’t put forth the effort required to excel. My son came home every day telling me about the amazing learning experience he was having with TutorOne. He did score a 4 on his Spanish II test, and his overall grade point average went from a 2.9 (D) to a 4.8 (A+) in Spanish, and a 1.7 (F) to a 4.0 (A) in English. Most importantly though, my son learned to love his studies and got a kick out of seeing his grades soaring. It was truly eye opening to see how one lesson per week changed everything." ~ Lisa H.,Parent, California
